Children’s Services at Midwest BioHealth
Restorative Dentistry
The goal of restorative dentistry for children is not just to fix existing problems but also to promote long-term oral health and prevent future issues. By choosing mercury-free and fluoride-free options, parents can ensure their children receive safe and effective dental care that supports their overall health and well-being.

Materials
Mercury-free fillings: Instead of traditional amalgam fillings (which contain mercury), restorative dentistry uses tooth-colored composite resins or glass ionomer cement.
These materials are safe, durable, and blend with natural tooth color.
Fluoride-free alternatives: For remineralization and cavity prevention, restorative recommends fluoride-free options like calcium phosphate pastes, xylitol products, or hydroxyapatite toothpaste.
-
Procedures
Cavity fillings: Restoring teeth affected by cavities using the biocompatible materials mentioned.
Crowns:
Placing caps on severely decayed or damaged teeth to protect and strengthen them.
Crowns can be made from stainless steel, zirconia, or porcelain.
Space maintainers:
It is used when a baby tooth is lost prematurely to hold the space open for the permanent tooth to erupt correctly.
-
Benefits
Safety: Avoiding the use of mercury and fluoride minimizes potential health risks associated with these substances, particularly for young children whose bodies are still developing.
Aesthetics:
Tooth-colored restorations create a natural look, improving the child's smile and confidence.
Biocompatibility: Biocompatible materials reduce the risk of allergic reactions or sensitivities.
Minimally invasive: Focus on preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible, leading to less discomfort and faster healing.
-
Considerations
Preventive care: Restorative dentistry is just one part of overall oral health.
Regular checkups, cleanings, and good oral hygiene practices are crucial for preventing future dental problems.

Insurance Statement
Midwest BioHealth strives to offer exceptional holistic dental care., outstanding customer service, and unparalleled patient experience. Dr. Johnson does do all of the dentistry here in our office except for dental cleanings.
We do not participate in ANY dental networks which allow our staff to give each patient the time to ask questions, receive only high-quality dental work and materials, and not be rushed in and out of the office. In most dental offices that do accept dental insurance payments, the dentist will hire a certified dental assistant who can place fillings after the dentist has removed the decay or old filling. This allows for a dental practice to operate on volumes of patients per day. Our office does NOT DOUBLE BOOK patients. We see one at a time. Dr. Johnson is a perfectionist and wants to make sure your dental work is done to the highest standard of care.
